1910 circa OVAL PATIENCE No. 240 C.L. Wust (Frankfurt) 52 cards 54X85 mm.

No joker was issued with this patience deck. The deck was printed in chromolithography and published as "Patience Karten No. 240". The company logo, the star with the initials CLW in it, is on the Jack of Clubs. On the ace of hearts the fiscal stamp "Deutsches Reich Nr. 4 Dreiszig Pf." (1903 – 1912). The courts show fantasy royalty. What catches the eye is that the Kings in the black suits are depicted as strict and somewhat gloomy rulers, while in the red suits they look much gentler, even in armour. The Queens all look delightful. A remarkable feature is the white outline around the large suit symbols, only found on the courts. Probably done to make them more visible within the design. Another special feature (to be found in some other Wüst decks too) is the X as indicator for the 10's. Mint, only the back of the 5 of flower has a small abrasion. € 260
